Camps

Lotus & Ivy’s Spring & Summer Camps offer students a Waldorf-inspired option for having learning and having fun, all while following the rhythm of our Waldorf classes. Check the dates and times of each camp and then fill out a Camp Application and pay the camp fee of $75.

Payment is due at the time of Registration in order for us to hold your spot. Our class sizes are small (maximum is 12) and we cannot hold a spot without payment.

Buzz & Flutter.png

Buzz & Flutter

June 28 - July 2, 2021
1 - 2pm ET/ 10 - 11am PT

Ages 5-7 | Tuition $75

Each themed day of Buzz & Flutter Camp, Ms. Smith from Georgia will share a nature-inspired story, lead children in a crafting activity, and build a snack based on that day’s theme. Themes are bugs, flowers, birds, water & wind, and fairy tea party. As a culminating activity on Friday, the children will craft their own nature fairies and/or gnomes and will build a home for them. These hand-made items will provide hours of open-ended play for months to come!

Stories include: Bugs Story: “The Prince of Butterflies” by Dorothy Harrer from Nature Ways in Story and Verse; Flowers Story: What’s This? A Seed’s Story by Caroline Mockford; Birds Story: “The Oriole’s Journey” by Frances Bliss Gillespy from Tell Me a Story; Water and Wind Story: “A Bubble Story” by Susan Perrow from Summer Wynstones; and Fairy Tea Party Story: The Woman Who Flummoxed the Fairies by Heather Forest

Supplies needed: white paper plates, feathers, glue, scissors, sidewalk chalk, bird seed, plastic cups, plastic straws, watercolor paint, liquid soap, larger sheet of paper (watercolor if possible), plastic water bottle with bottom cut off, mesh bag, rubber band, 3 different colors of thin 16 inch long pieces of ribbon, 12 inch stick, pipe cleaners, silk flowers and leaves (disassembled), 1 piece clothespins, yarn, cloth napkin, small decorative plate, small cup, found nature items (stones, sticks, leaves, bark, grasses, shells, acorn caps, etc.)

Food items needed (Please substitute allergy-free items if needed.) : rice cake or similar, nut butter or sunbutter, banana, blueberries, apple, Cheerios or similar allergy-friendly cereal, carrot, round crackers, cottage cheese, tomato, olives, chives, mint tea, cream cheese, fruit of choice


Fairytale Heroes

July 19 - 23, 2021
1 - 2pm ET/ 10 - 11am PT

Ages 7 - 9 | Tuition: $75

In the heart of every girl and boy lives a true hero!  Explore your heroic nature in this magical camp with Ms. Moskuwich from Canada.  Each day will include a circle time of songs, movement, games and verses, the telling of a chapter of our fairy tale, Andrew Lang’s The Mermaid and the Boy, an art activity, and a closing activity and song.  Each daily art activity is a step toward the completion of a very special project--the creation of a cardboard sword and unique heroic shield!

Supplies needed:  2 sheets of thick cardboard, each about 11" X 17"; 1 piece of strong cardboard (for example, a fruit box from a supermarket), about 24" long; 1 empty cardboard toilet roll; kitchen foil; mug to draw around (or use provided template); masking tape; duct tape; glue; blank printer or drawing paper, acrylic or poster paints and brush; crayons; pencil, ruler & scissors or a craft knife.


Make a Pop-Up Book!
Based on a Native American Tale

July 12 - 16, 2021
1 - 2pm ET/ 10 - 11am PT

Ages 8 - 11 | Tuition: $75

Join Ms. AbiNader from Oregon for storytelling, movement, origami, book-making and pop-up technique! Ms. AbiNader will tell a Native American story on the first day along with some movement activities and an origami practice. Each day after, she will lead students in creating a pop-up from a scene in the story. On the last day, students will make the cover, add finishing touches and learn another pop up technique if there is time. The children may need to spend some time outside of the class time to work on their drawing or some shading of the pieces. The children will feel a sense of completion and have a finished book by the end of the week.

Supplies needed: sheets of white, light-weight card stock that can be folded and cut, glue stick, crayons and colored pencils, scissors, ruler

Where in the Wonderful World?

July 19-23, 2021 1pm - 2pm ET/ 10am - 11am PT

Ages 9-11 | Tuition: $75

Devil’s Tower, the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef. What do these have in common? They are incredible formations of Earth! Join Ms. McGee from Georgia to discover how different lands or landforms of the world came to be. Each day students will hear stories, craft, model, draw, and/or paint. On the last day, children will share their own story about a chosen landform with the class.

The Kalevala

July 26 - 30, 2021
11am - 12pm ET/ 8 - 9am PT

Ages 8 - 10 | Tuition: $75

Join Ms Nicholson from the United Kingdom for a week of tales from the Finnish epic the Kalevala, which tells of the creation of the world, the adventures of supernatural seer Väinämöinen, the skilled smith Ilmarinen, the warrior Lemminkäinen and Louhi, the female ruler of the land of Pohjola. Activities based on these stories include singing, poetry, movement and drama exercises, drawing and painting. The children may need to spend some time outside class to finish a drawing or painting.

Supplies needed: crayons and/or colored pencils, drawing paper, painting paper, watercolor paints, thick paintbrush.

Wet Felting Fun!

August 9-13, 2021 & August 16-20, 2021
1 - 2pm ET/ 10 - 11am PT

Ages 9-12 | Tuition $75

Do you love to play in warm, sudsy water?  

Each day of Wet Felting Camp Ms. Mansuri from Vermont will help you make a different type of wet felted project, round beads, rolled “sushi beads,” key chains, and felted soap.  On the last day, we will string our beads together into necklaces, bracelets, and garlands.

Supplies needed: several colors of wool fleece, a textured tray with a lip (like a boot tray or a painter’s tray), bubble wrap, rubbery shelf liner, long pencil, liquid dish soap, new bar(s) of your favorite soap, sharp scissors (sewing scissors are best), hot water, towels, embroidery thread (not embroider floss), a sharp-pointed embroidery needle, key rings.  


Spanish Immersion/Weaving Camp

June 28 - July 2, 2021

Ages 10 - 14 at 1-2pm ET/10-11am PT | $75

Supplies List: A cardboard rectangle- 8x11 inches, a darning needle, two colors of wool yarn and scissors, watercolor paints and A4 watercolor paper, a paintbrush, colored pencils, a black pen

Each day Ms. Straubel from New Jersey will immerse students in the Spanish language, while listening to a week-long retelling of the story “Tejedora del Arcoíris” to explore the Mayan art form of backstop weaving in Guatemala. The students will learn to weave a mug rug and work on it daily, with the final day for finishing the projects and exploring our connections to the Earth and recycling.
