There were many many times his enthusiasm was through the roof after hearing one of the stories or learning something new!"

You are so sweet and skilled with the children and I am enamored with your approach, varied ways of practicing the materials, and copious resources. I am so convinced that a good teacher is the most important piece of an education and so wanted my child to be with you for as many classes as possible! I wanted to say how grateful I am that we got to have this experience. I have learned so much about teaching, been inspired with new approaches, and am seeing my child be inspired by the other kids. Bringing main lessons & expanded curriculum to class 6-9 students from Spain

What Grown-Ups say about Mr. Gay’s Class:

“My son’s experience was positive after some challenging years in a public school setting. Mr. Gay created a class environment that is inclusive and fun. My son appreciated the few minutes spent on Mondays asking how their weekends were. This personal touch really made him feel comfortable and seen. My son often commented on how interesting the classes were and he liked the way Mr. Gay presented the information with a personal and often humorous touch. Geometry and astronomy were particularly interesting for him and even though he finds writing challenging, he worked through the different classes independently and gained confidence over the year in both his reading and writing skills.”

“What we like most about Mr. Gay is that he is able to translate his deep, scholastic understanding of the disciplines he teaches into a relatable and digestible way for young learners. He does more than simply give the information and expect the student to regurgitate the answers. He speaks with the student on their level, and guides them to the answers in a way that allows the student to discover the solutions and feel empowered by them.”

“As a family coming from a brick-and-mortar Waldorf school, we have been very impressed that Lotus and Ivy truly captures the heart of a Waldorf education. Mr Gay has been a huge part of that experience. From the morning verses and songs to the rich storytelling and the way he presents each lesson, he creates fun, warmth, rhythm, and a sense of wonder that my children cherish and take away each day. My child’s favorite subjects were Astronomy and Ancient Rome because of the in class projects.  What stands out the most for my children is the way he genuinely connects with them. He takes the time to know every child individually, thus, they feel seen, valued, encouraged and know their unique personalities are appreciated. They always look forward to the next lesson with Mr Gay.”

Sophia Nicholson

Teacher Education Highlight: Diploma in Waldorf Education; London Waldorf Teacher Training Seminar

Bringing language arts lessons to Lotus & Ivy Classes from England, united kingdom

What Grown-Up’s Say About Ms. Nicholson’s Class

“One thing that has brought (my daughter) happiness during this time is Moby Dick, specifically your teaching of it.  She loves your class!  It is good that she is loving the book.  She loves it because you make it come alive!  You exude joy from appreciating good literature, and it is contagious!  What a gift!  It is exactly what the children need!”

“Thank you for such an intriguing first semester, I really enjoyed all the discussions we had in class! All the ‘grey’ areas of the characters in Macbeth made it very realistic to the way humans act today, which was something I found quite interesting.

I sometimes struggled with the PEA acronym when writing my essays; however, with your feedback, I was able to improve my last essay on Masculinity. “

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN TEACHING FOR LOTUS & IVY?

Our teachers share our values and have a desire to bring Waldorf-inspired education to homeschool students. We are currently hiring experienced Waldorf-trained teachers.

Our teachers may live anywhere in the world; however, they must have a high-speed internet connection and be available to teach, in English, at the times of our classes. Our teachers are part-time, spending an average of 10 hours a week on lesson planning, teaching, and supporting parents in their class of 12 students. Our pay is very competitive. Our directors support our teachers every step of the way.

If this sounds interesting to you, please submit your resume to lotusandivyvirtualclasses@gmail.com to initiate the interview process.
